I have been looking for an app for my Android phone that will allow my wife to follow my flights or back woods trail rides on her computer. Vince said there was a post on the list about that, but I cannot seem to come up with the right search query to find it.
Is anybody using one of these that you would recommend?
Thanks and Happy New Year!

Well the Gov can track you on your phone, not sure how or for that matter if I would like the general public to do so. Smile I of course use a "Spot"   http://www.findmespot.com/en/index.php?cid=111
to enable my wife to be able to find my body, if worse comes to worse. It sends a link to any computer that you specify. Worth the money to me.
However this may be what you are looking for-   http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/gps-enabled-smartphone-tracking-device/

I use FollowMee on my Windows phone. I suspect it is available to Apple and
Android users too.

Once set up, you create an account and can put a password on it. Then only
those that have your password can track you. It is all automatic, but you
can stop the tracking function anytime. I got this for my wife to use when I
go flying. One thing we have noticed is it is not always "real time". That
is to say that sometimes the locations on the web site are a little behind.

You generally get what you pay for, and this is a free app with an option to
upgrade for more features. It does what I need and I don't anticipate
upgrading.

Not as useful as a SPOT, but much cheaper, like me.

Stuart

My son thinks Google has an app so parents can track their kids.    I use a ham radio tracker,   but you have to get a ham license.   Once you buy the hardware it is free.   It works similar to the spot tracker but is ground based not satellite.
Try entering phone tracker....lost phone finder.... call your phone provider...
Good luck

After lunch today I installed Glympse. It is a free app & pretty simple to use; you send an email to whoever you want to see your track, and then tell your phone how long you want it to broadcast, max time is 4 hours & 15 minutes, and nobody sees it but the person/people you invite. It updates several times a minute, or you can set it for low battery usage and broadcast less often. I went for max coverage to see how the battery would do.

When I saw that each track broadcast is for a max time of 4 hours & 15 minutes, I thought "Oh..." But then I never fly for more that 3 hours at a time anyway, and you could just send a new invite for each leg. Each invite would show up as a separate email.

All the motorcycles needed running, and it was about 57 degrees today, so I put the phone in my pocket and went riding. The wife could watch my track real time on her PC. Also, the tracks persisted on her PC even after I got done and exited the program.

I sent myself a track request about 4PM and let it run the full 4 hours just to hammer the batttery, for a total of about 6 + hours use today, battery in the phone is down about 50%, so I think I'll spend $20 and get an external battery pack to carry with me, something like this:

I will be checking this out over the winter, worth what ya paid for it, thanks for the comments, and Happy New Year.
