Also do not forget to someday soon run a complete compression test on the engine and to verify valve lash is set correctly. An eroded exhaust valve? Possibly. Hope not.

-- | We did a compression check on pre-buy and the lowest was 74 or 76 by memory, most were 78/80. I participated in that and observed the numbers myself.

UPDATE - got everything put back together, went surprisingly well. Did a leak check with soapy water by pulling a few blades through and saw bubbles, so tightened the check valve to compressor fitting, until I stripped the threads on the compressor housing.
So, can it be heli-coiled or did I just kill the compressor?
Can't believe it, after all I went through, to blow it at the very end like that - just beside myself.
And, any pointers on how best to avoid that in the future. Had a new set of crush washers from Jill and just wanted the thing to seal up but no joy, figure it just needed to be tightened up but apparently not as tight as I thought.
