 I was approached by them a couple of years ago when I was working on my Instrument.

 I researched them and found nothing bad to speak of. They sent me a video to watch and 

 although I didn't use them, I seem to remember that I labeled them as an option. Expensive but

 good and efficient. You have to reserve some vacation time where you won't be interrupted 

 and work 8 hours a day at it.

 I used the Sportys test practice to gauge my progress along the way and I found it to be quite accurate.

 My opinion is that if you can't pass the Sportys practice test you are not ready.

 I watched the Sportys DVD instrument course several times and did all the practice questions and then took a weekend 

 course put on by AviationSeminars.com at Addison in Dallas. We took the test right after the course and I made 

 a 95. I say it was well worth it.  About $300 if I remember correctly.  I got my rating about 4 months later.

Hi Steve,
	




PIC has been discussed on the GG in the past, if I remember rightly. Try

looking on grumman.net/archive and see what you dig up.



so than the intensive courses where you go to them, as opposed to them

sending an instructor to you, which is how PIC works. I think you do

already have to have passed your written.



Ron Levy has done some instruction for PIC, I think.

Regarding your instrument training, what is the big hurry? Too many pilots 

use accelerated training as a way just to finish and get through a rating. 

Your instrument rating is difficult because it is probably the most 

important rating you will ever get. Flying the aircraft in actual conditions 

can be accomplished by most competent pilots.  However I have run into to 

many pilots that are instrument rated and have no real concept of the rules, 

regulations, and procedures that should be implicated while flying under IFR 

conditions. Just dont pass the IFR written exam. Learn it and know the 

questions inside and out. Grasp the concepts, rules, navigational 

procedures, and so forth. Remember when you begin to fly into IFR airspace 

you're now up there with the professionals, and nothing drives professional 

pilots more crazy than incompetent IFR pilots in actual conditions.

(Professional Instrument Courses, Inc). Anyone ever used this company? They 

are based out of Essex, CT Your feedback on or off list is welcomed. It's 

my understanding I need to have my written completed first. Is this

I've completed the King video series for my inst ground school but just 

cannot seem to do well with the practice test available on sportys.com, any

I used PIC to complete my rating.  It's not a matter of being in a hurry. 

It's a matter of not starting and stopping the training over a long and 

inefficient period of time where life's other priorities keep getting in the 

way and you end up repeating lessons and wasting money relearning skills. 

PIC also screens its instructors carefully.  They typically aren't time 

builders and definitely will not leave you in the middle of your training 

for a better job.  It is a program which I believe has a proven track 

record.

It can also be difficult because people are driving to the one lesson 

they've had in two weeks and are thinking about the business report their 

boss is expecting the day after tomorrow.

Many pilots do not stay current after the rating is attained.  When you take 

the PIC course and pass your checkride, you will know the rules.

You aren't going to be unprofessional because of PIC.

I get the flyers all the time too.   I've thought about the courses.   I don't know anything about the details.

Thanks Gary. I find it so absurd. How can one asking about getting training 

be any less specific than questions about life rafts, PFDs, emergency break 

out tools, which knot do I tie my plane down with? and which avionics 

package to put in your Grumman. The common bond is we all own and fly and/or 

aspire to own a Grumman aircraft.
