IMHO you might also look into the Simonini and Polini brand engines. I'm sure the Zanzottera (MZ) are decent engines, but the Polini is gaining a really strong reputation in the UL and LSA world, and Simonini is already the leader in the highly competitive powered parachute world (which is now the largest and most active market for small engines).
There are two competing engines from Polini and SImonini that make 33 to 36HP and weigh 40- 45 pounds, WITH starter, reduction drive, propeller and exhaust. (incredible!)
They have more modern advanced metallurgy than previous generations of 2 stroke engines. If I recall, the fuel burn is also more attractive than previous engines (377).
There is a good chance that these engines on an early Firestar can legitimately put it into Part 103 weight, with a lot more flight performance than one would expect. You can add a quick/cheap/light home made "Swiss muffler" and have it much quieter too.

That does sound incredible. I'll have do some research on these engines. I started my Rotax 377 today after it was 28 years in storage after being fogged after its last fight. It has thirty hours on it, that's total time. It took a while to clear all that old fogging oil out of it. Ran great! Tomorrow I'll put it thru the Rotax break in run which is pretty torturous. If it survives that I'll figure it to be airworthy.
Thanks for information.
