I am in the long process of rebuilding my TR-1 and have been making a few changes.

I removed the seat bulkhead and am using my carbon seat backs I made years ago and adding recline. It is absolutely amazing! I can recline to about 80 degrees! Super comfortable. More so than domestic first class with no risk of loosing your seat. I would have no problem sleeping for hours. Very open and roomy. It also makes getting to the luggage area very nice with the seat backs folded forward. No need for a baggage door at all. Of course you can't recline fully if the baggage area is full. I did move the baggage bulkhead back a little and made it a real ring bulkhead with removable cover.

To replace the structure of the seat back bulkhead I am adding a carbon full flat hoop bulkhead where the seat backs were. At the same time I am adding a flat carbon hoop at the front of the door opening and carbon on the roof between these two hoops. It will add more rollover protection and stiffen up the roof where the door hinges mount.

I also lowered the added floor under the rudder pedals about an inch and made new rudder pedals with the outboard ones turning outboard and the rudder cables now along the fuselage side instead of in the center. This eliminates the need for any center console or obstruction in front of the seats.

These changes really change the whole feel and character of the airplane from being a bit cramped and not very comfortable for long flights to being fairly roomy and comfortable.
