I get a lot of leaks from my exhaust joints on Yak 52tw. Instead of the stainless steel shims would there be a problem with wrapping the joint with exhaust pipe fiberglass wrap, then put the exhaust donut on top and fasten with the exhaust clamp? Also does anyone know what kind of temperatures that the exhaust pipes can reach?

 Thanks

 Snaz

Can not say about the pipe temp but see 1350 or so on the EGT sometimes when
 finding peak.

Well at night the exhaust glows red and there is a pretty blue flame that extends about 6 inches from the bottom port at full throttle.

I wrapped my joints with 0.015 SS Shim Tape. Need to put about four laps around the joint then apply the exhaust clamp.https://www.zoro.com/precision-brand-shim-stock-roll-cold-low-steel-00015-in-16155/i/G2606335/feature-product?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI1LWbiemC4QIVCIzICh0p5g-kEAQYASABEgI5QfD_BwE

				Snaz,

See the link attached.  That what I used, and it worked great.  It’s compressible and will ‘give’ and seal well.   I used the 1” width version of this.
