I believe if you check with vans they will confirm that simply pulling the tail in first and using a tow bar for steering will work. Of course you will need a remote control for the winch.

  Dear all,

I have an option on a T-hangar which needs the plane to be moved uphill, tail first,
into a narrow space (8 inch clearance each side of the HS).  Doing this
alone by hand with a Bogi-Bar is likely to result in tail damage sooner rather
  than later.

The hangar already has an electric winch installed, which is slow enough but has
a pretty brutal yank when starting.

Im thinking of attaching the winch cable with a bungee to the top of the nose gear
leg, and passing the cable through a karabiner in the tail tie-down to pull
the tail straight without exerting any axial force on it. I would still need
a dolly for the nose wheel or push the tail down to keep the nosewheel off the
ground whilst moving.  Those options seem complex / impractical.

Its nice to work the brain again so long after the build is complete, but if someone
has already got a great idea or experience Im happy to borrow!

Cheers to all from a rather rainy Switzerland.

  Gordon
