I've successfully been using this in my RV-3B and now RV-4.

However recently alternator field breaker has started popping more and more frequently. After swapping alternator and breaker and using a heatgun on the OVP I've determined that the OVP triggers when getting hot.
So I figured I'd just build a new one. However the MSB4991 is obsolete and no longer available from Mouser and DigiKey.
Is that the reason for this newer OVP circuit?

Much higher parts count.
I really like the original simple compact circuit.

I had it mounted on top of the engine close to the alternator. Maybe I should just move it into the cockpit?

eBay has the parts you need.
