				Hello,

Z18 shows a filter (F526.910-03) installed on the P lead of both mags.
I am not able to source this from LOM.
Any idea about what a local equivalent for this would be

 Thanks

 Mike

That MSD noise filter is almost certainly a Nippon ChemiCon U36D series capactor (like this one) with a red shrink-wrap over it and the price wildly inflated.

 Here's the mounting bracket.

Bottom line is that I could detect no benefit
for having this capacitor in the system.
Noise levels on the alternator's output
were quite nominal and of no operational
significance whether or not the capacitor
   was included.

Except for the mitigation of generator/alternator
radio frequency noise in ADF radios, B-lead
   capacitors and/or 'purpose designed' filters
haven't been needed for quite some time.

AHA! you weren't talking about an alternator filter . . .
but an ignition module filter . . . I'll learn how
to read one of these days!

Greetings from the right 'rabbit hole' . . .

Okay, I peeked at the mounting bracket and the 36D
series capacitors and ran down the wrong rabbit hole.

I don't recall the source data for LOM magneto
wiring . . . Z18 was crafted many moons ago! However,
I'm pretty sure we're working with legacy magnetos.
Therefore, those filters would be of the type
recommended for magneto p-leads. These are generally
a series inductor paired with a shunt capacitor.

Try flying with no filters. These were generally
needed only for low frequency AM radios. I'm
presuming you won't have these installed!

Wire the mag switches as shown . . . ground the
switches through the p-lead shields with no
other connections to ground at the switches.
I think you have a good chance of experiencing
    no magneto interference.

If you DO notice some on your VHF comm radios,
we can craft some filters to try. They're
not complicated. But to be sure, fat
electrolytic capacitors are not part of
    the solution!
