				Hi Kip,
I don't know anything about the incident, but 424EA is the hybrid Lightning (Esqual fuselage with the Lightning wing and 80 HP engine). It had been just recently sold to a guy from Crossville.  I gave the new owner some stick time in my Esqual and it was obvious he would need a thorough review before soloing his new airplane. The new buyer had not flown much recently and needed more instruction than Nick could give to get him ready to solo 424EA. Nick flew with him several times at Shelbyville, but an instructor from Crossville was to complete the checkout. How did you find about this recent incident?
  Blue Skies,
  Buz

				Local pilot survives plane crash

A Cumberland County man walked away from this plane
crash at Crossville Memorial Airport Saturday,
suffering a serious head laceration and complaining of
back pain. The crash occurred around 8:20 a.m. near
the end of the runway when pilot Robert Parsons Jr.,
34, Don Kerley Rd., encountered strong headwinds. The
downdraft slammed his plane back onto the side of the
runway, according to Crossville fire and police
officials. Parsons was flying a home-built JN4D Jenny
 Replica single-engine bi-plane.

this is all I have found so far still looking....

Buz, I took a demo flight in that plane. Perhaps he needed a bit more instruction. I found the info on the FAA preliminary incident site. It is updated daily and shows all incidents and accidents. It's usually a list of daily gear up landings. I'd offer a link but I am at work and it's at home.
 Regards,
 Kip

				Buz and all,

Just go to www.faa.gov and click on the Accident and Incident Data under
Top Requests. The Preliminary Accident Data is usually pretty sketchy but
the first place you will find out about an accident.

 Linda
