				Hello everyone,
It's been quite a while. I don't write often, but read all the mails that
 go around.
I was wondering if I could get some help here. I've been upgrading my panel
to the Electronics International insts. Real nice. Finally, after two
years of having them, I decided it was time to do the job. Don't ask why I
took so long cause it's a long story. (When I'm done, I'll send the pics)
First, I was wondering if the control wheels of a Shrike can be fitted/added
to a 500, and if so, where could I get them.

I'm also in need of a good shop for a prop overhaul, in the Fla area, If
anyone has good reviews, I would greatly appreciate it.
 Thanks in advance,
 Victor Fernandez C

				Actually,
I'm not in Florida; I'm in Dominican Republic, but Fla. Is, I believe, the
 closest place with authorized centers.
Unless there is one in Puerto Rico?
I'm planning to fly the plane up there,, instead of shipping them.
 Thanks,
 Victor

There is a place in Tenn. Called Firetruck aviation that works on my 500 Shrike. He holds several STC’s and is working on additional ones. If you have more interest I can put together additional information.

YOU FEllows need to get out more. palm beach aircraft propeller (mike)
was the hartzell contact with the hub a/d and is one of the best prop
shops in the country. this is at lna. also at lna is palm beach
aviation maintenance Jim Schiller has at least 25 years working on aero
commanders 561-262-8155. he is in the hangar next door to the prop
shop. he may to busy to work on your plane, but if he does it will be
done right and for a fair price. he only works on commanders. allan

				Victor,

Were you based at Herrera airport before it closed? A friend of mine would
purchase insurance repairable planes and fly them there for a paint job by
Hector who also paints for the military there. Since moved to the new
airport. I flew a Mooney down for paint and flew a painted Bonanza back to
L31 for a friend last September. A few sad ACommander hulls there. Pics
 are on Nico's pic site.

I believe F. Lee Bailey (a famous attorney) had a twin commander based
in LNA. About 12 years ago I had a prop incident and ended up at the
prop shop you are talking about. While awaiting repair of the prop we
nosed around some adjacent hangers. One of them had Mr. Bailey's plane
 in it.

Just throwing the idea out there. Would there be any benefit in providing an education grant to promising young engineers to fill the voids left by those who leave us? The way I see it is that, if there is no investment in the future, the industry’s intellectual property in terms of Commander expertise will die out. These ships will still fly for a considerable period of time and good, knowledgeable engineers will be required. Perhaps an apprenticeship with one of today’s gurus will be a good start.

				Re: Florida based service;

Our mechanic Jack is a retired 'snowbird' who spends his winters in Naples
FL. He's a crackerjack mechanic and has been around Commanders for a long
time and has been doing our maintenance for many years.

I'd be happy to forward contact information.
