I know I'm asking a lot of questions. There is a lot of experience on this list and a good resource for getting ideas on doing things right the first time.
I was looking at the pictures from Copperstate of the Milows planes. The graphics and paint schemes are amazing work. I'm a true novice when it comes to painting. I can mask off straight lines and paint that. The desert scene on Uncle Craigs plane has me wondering how he did that.
How and what do you use to stencil graphics and lettering? I know I can buy vinyl lettering and just stick it on. I don't think I'll be able to match the Stits Pumpkin Orange that I use so I would like to paint some lettering on the nose cone.
Can you get a masking material that you can cut out the lettering and stick on Aerothane without damaging it?

It's not that hard to do amazing paint if you are willing to spend the
time to do the masking. These planes are the first things Milo Tim and I
have painted with Aero-thane. The time it takes to do all the back
masking is phenomenal. My hat is off to any one with paint schemes like
John hawk and similar designs. Although fun, if you like that sort of
thing, it's very satisfying when it is finished. For graphics we used
kitchen cupboard self adhesive paper. We did the graphic design and cut
them with an Ex-acto knife then applied it to the surface, masked around
it and then applied paint. Just remember if it is aero-thane you must
sand all the little details on the mask or the paint will not stick to
the underling color
