  From my reading it appears that you really want the upgraded 

 software due out next year for this to be a primary means of

 navigation system.



 I wonder if you should wait for the upgrade until that is approved 

 and available.

If you have a 430 or 530 unit now, schedule with a  garmin dealer to have the unit sent in for the upgrade.  An antenna change  is also necessary and may be extra depending on your installation.
