The French have a philosophy that anything you can do to avoid paying taxes
is morally justified.

A more practical point: A few years ago United Airplines was considering
building a huge maintenance/overhaul base and to intice them to come to
Colorado the state legislature enacted a law that exempts aircraft parts
from sales taxes. Guess what: A homebuilt experimental aircraft is made up
of 'aircraft parts' so we don't pay any tax upon registration. At one time
Colorado did have a plane sticker/tax but it cost more to administer the
program than it produced so the provision was cancelled. Overall result: no
taxes of any sort on our planes.

(But if you purchase a plane its a different story.)

FWIW Happy Holidays.

John

One thing many people do not understand is you only pay sales tax on
purchases from business entities. In my case, I bought my engine from an
individual, thus no sales tax. My Garmin 430 and numerous other pieces and
part, ie., strode flash unit from the flymart at Oshkosh (another
individual), thus no sale tax. Nowhere in my posts have I ever said to
simply not pay property or sales tax. What I do for a living is minimize,
not avoid, my client's tax liability. On this note, it will be me who
places the value for property tax, DO-2, I'll pay the use tax on invoiced
items from business entities only. Both of those are within tax law. I
will not pay one penny more. Pretty simple in my book. I'm not into giving
them any freebees.

BTW, Merry Christmas and what in the world am I doing posting on
Christmas:-)

Sort of late to the party on this one but...

In 5 of the 6 years that Dick Cheney ran Halliburton the company paid not a cent in US taxes. ZERO!
In 2005 some of Dick Cheney's stock options increased in value 3,281%. Valued at $241,498 in December 2004 in one year they were re-valued at $8,000,000. He still holds over half a million options.
How is your 401K doing, or your pension plan that is not protected by this government and leveraged by corporate raiders to purchase & dismantle companies? Anyone out there pounding rivets while your stock options are rising 3,000%? If not I strongly suggest that next Christmas you ask for some No Bid Contracts. Beats an iPod.
I will make every effort to pay all taxes due when the America we once had is returned to the people.
Please don’t get me started on Katrina, the Bankruptcy Bill, WMD, Domestic Spying, No Child Left Behind, the Clean Air Act.....
Now back to programming my 496.

Robin,
What do you think makes us little people strive to get to the top. God
bless America then and now. Please don't use this sight as your personal
soapbox.

Paul,
RV8 - almost finished.

That’s a mighty slim excuse for a political tirade. Maybe you can find another list where people are interested in what you have to say. Try moveon.org.

I have a couple of stock picks that are up over 2000% in the last couple years and I‘m just a peon where I work. Guess that means I part of a deep dark conspiracy. Cool, I always wanted to be in the know. Heh

And just to be double sure, do not archive this drivel.

While I agree with many of your assertions, this is not the place for this info. Besides, most of the people here are not of our political persuasion, so why beat a dead horse?

Sorry, I was catching up on my RV-List reading and came across the prior sales tax posts re: one’s moral obligations & just started typing. A form of drunk dialing without the alcohol. I'll try to keep it RV related.
Happy New Year all,

My plane is a "Gummo Special". When I called Falcon Insurance, they ask what it was and I told them it was based on a Harmon Rocket and they wrote the policy with no problems. To them it is a Rocket.
