I need some help! I have a used aircraft key switch to use on my 0-200 set
up but can't understand the terminals on the back. I understand the BAT,
GRD and S terminals. The L and R are the mag kill conections. But does
anyone know what the LR, PR, and BO terminals are for? I have tried to check
it with an ohmeter and they don't conect to the BAT ever. If you have a Duel
mag setup, you've probably seen this. Help!

Aaron,
Go to Aircraft Spruce catalog: ignition switches. They have a pin out.
"Use jumper on terminal 1 & use the LR and BO terminals for a 2 terminal starting vibrator when LEFT MAG ia RETARD BREAKER MAGNETO"
Check out this link: http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/elpages/ignitionswitchkit.php

Hi Aaron
Sorry for delay in reply actually found weather fit to
fly Friday afternoon.
Beware if you have a Bendix or A C S switch for confusion there are two
terminals marked GRD which are not connected together.
For Rays 0 200 the connections we have used are as follows, he has 2
impulse coupled mags fitted.

BAT + supply
S to starter solenoid coil
grd To screen of cables to left & right Mag Both screens are earthed
at the Mags.
R Core to Right Mag (R connected to grd in Off & Left Mag
position)
L Core to Left Mag (L connected to grd in Off & Right Mag
Position)

If you only have one impulse coupler on left Mag then Link R to GRD (other
ground terminal) [this GRD terminal is connected to other grd terminal
when switch is in start position] I did have drawing of back of switch but
it must be in hanger so you will have to check which GRD terminal is which
is which with a meter.
I believe I got the circuit From Aeroelectric book.

The switch manufacturers also recommend you fit a discharge diode across the
starter solenoid coil, one was supplied with a new switch we bought to
replace an old one we found had a intermittent start contact.

As others have pointed out the other terminals are for vibrator retarded
starting of which I have no knowledge and is a very old system.
