On Wednesday I directed a message to JB on a valve timing check. I got an
answer directly to my email from Mahlon Russell who is the Lycoming Engines
group monitor on Yahoo. Here is what he wrote me:
Put number one on TDC compression.
Check valve overlap on number two.
If one valve is just opening and one just closing as number one goes over
 TDC on Compression,
 valve timing is correct.
Go slowly and check carefully it is easy to think it is OK when it isn't.
If it is off the overlap will occur at least 5-7 teeth past the TDC mark on
the flywheel. If it is only
off by one tooth or so it is likely OK but your checking could be more
accurate. When it is bad one
tooth in the back equals several in the front on the flywheel.
 Good luck,
 Mahlon Russell

I did the above and my O-320 checked OK. I will now install my new Titan
 cylinders.
 Thank you JB and Mahlon!
 Best regards,
