No! No! Now is when you should start wineing! I'd suggest starting
with a glass of Chardonnay, then cracking a couple bottles of good
Pinot Noir and killing them off with a friend. When you've finished
that, you can each down a half-liter bottle of botrytis dessert wine
and cap it all with two or three glasses of Gran Marnier. The
resulting hang-over should put all your problems nicely in perspective.

When I added my 2 cents about the federal funding and security mandates, it seems I was all wet on that. A
little education is a great thing. Now, I am no lawyer, but after reading that AC, it seems that federal funding actually mandates public accessibility, providing you don't represent a safety issue, which the airport entity would have to prove to the FAA and/or local fsdo. Which, of course, for what you are looking to do, wouldn't be. If I were in Tom's shoes, I would definitely have a copy of this in hand. Good call Steve. Anyway, that's my 4 cents worth. :- )

FAA Advisory Circular No: 150/5190-6 is drawn from FAA Order 5190.6A "Airport Compliance Requirements" a FAA 9.94 MB PDF file.

http://www.faa.gov/airports_airtraffic/airports/resources/publications/orders/index.cfm?sect=obligations
This is (also) must reading for when discussing aircraft owners rights to operations, self-servicing and maintenance. (at federal funded airports)

Also check on the rues of the Airport Advisory Council. There may not be a
quorum in place. If you turn up you may have every right to elect yourself
president of the council and form a coup. Today the key to the gate
tomorrow... The washroom! Smile

Tom

When dealing with cities and other government entities 2 years is a normal response time and one year is almost instantaneous. This quick time frame is reserved for billing. One other little item to know, if you want to get your request okay-ed by the commission, you first need to convince the airport manager that HE should recommend your request to the commission. The reason is that the airport commissioners may not have any knowledge about flying, or airports. They may just be citizens who are doing a civic duty or putting in time to work their way up to the city council and then maybe to Mayor and beyond. So guess who they are looking to for guidance. I had no idea how much wisdom I would gain when I became an airport commissioner at SNS.
