The area under the red Right Triangle change the area that the Green and Yellow (or what ever that figure's color is) has to fit into. In other words, even thought the sides are still the same lenght the size of the area under the Red vs Green right triangle increased the area size for the other two figures to reside in. That is as simple as I can get it.

The three triangles involved have different angles so that their hypotenuses have different slopes.

the multicolored, red and green tirangles are drawn as though they are proportional. They are not. The large triangles sides have a 2.6 to 1 ration. The red sides are 2.66667 to 1 and the green green sides are 2.5 to 1.
The hyp of one or the other multicolored triangle is not a straight line. The whole thing is an optical illusion.

It's based on an optical illusion. The hypotenuse of the large triangle (not a real triangle) is bent in both illustrations.
So the lower is bulging and the upper is sagging, the white square is the difference in areas between the two.
Which is a different way of describing that that has already been said !

Very simple. Deuterons embedded in palladium settle at points within the electron orbitals and substantially increase the deuteron collisions thereby causing the ensuing hole.
Respectfully,

Well except for the BS ( ) and you spelled "orbital's" incorrectly, real answer is that the red triangle is larger than the dark green triangle, thus when moved to the base of the figure, orange doohickey, needs to move left and down in order to preserve total shape, thus the hole.
