Hi Torstein

Aero Designs supplied Pulsar 1  582 with gearbox ratio 1:2.00 up to about mid 1992 (using the Peery Prop of 54"dia and 44" pitch)

So with this ratio, the Peery prop should withstand 3400 RPM.

 

 Then from about mid 1992 the gearbox ratio was 1:2.24 and supplied with a 56" dia and 54" pitch prop (GSC prop) .

 

Max RPM of the 582/blue is 6800. Best not to exceed this RPM.

 

Your static RPM should be between 5800 to 6200 RPM.  Your present static 6400 RPM is a bit high (fine pitch). 

 

Here in the UK we have approval to use the Warp Drive (ground  adjustable) prop.

 

I am not aware of anyone here in the UK flying with the Peery Prop. If they are, then they would have to have the 1:2.00 ratio gearbox.

What about the Warp Drive compared with the Perry 54/44 inch and the GSC 56 Inch during climb Vy and

cruise 75 %.

Hi Torstein

 

The approved UK Warp Drive prop used here in the UK is a    56 inch dia, 2 blade, constant speed planform with heavy duty hub.  Rotax 582 "B" gearbox ratio of 2:1.  They set the blades at about 13 degree pitch. (the blades are ground adjustable) Those that are operating on marginal airfield strip, set their blades accordingly. So your Vy will depend on what degree you set the prop blades at, and try to stay with-in the static engine RPM of 5800 to 6200.

 

A hint on the Rotax 582 in the Pulsar 1.  Your MINIMUM RPM should be set at 2000 RPM (the engine will shake a lot at this setting)   However, your IDLE RPM should be 3000 RPM , where the engine should run smoothly - if not, then the  carburettors may need balancing.
